Year program: Building the alternative
Mark Fisher, the philosopher and writer, once stated, “It’s easier to envision the end of the world than to imagine the end of capitalism.”
This unsettling truth highlights the profound grip that capitalism has on our collective imagination. But as we see environmental crises and social inequalities and growing around us, it’s clear that we urgently need to rethink and rebuild our systems.
The path forward is not just about tearing down the old, but about nurturing the seeds of what could be.
What is the alternative?
How we view it as the Re/generatie, the alternative is an ongoing process, of experimenting and co-creating.
People feel increasingly “uprooted” in a world where the traditional model of life—buying a house, working separately from home, and living in isolation—no longer fits. There is a longing for a deeper connection. Not just with other humans, but also with non-human species, the soil, local organizations, companies and families.
It can have a profound effect on the well-being of this group and enhance their relationship with their environment. This shift from individualism to collectivism is crucial in addressing the current ecological crises and fostering synergy among diverse groups working together.
Fortunately, there is a hopeful narrative with a future-proof action perspective: regeneration. That’s why we launched this year-program! For the ones that want to build on the regenerative alternative of being together.
This is for you if
- You long for a place where you can come together with others, close to nature
- You are in the dreaming phase of starting a place: you have a vision and an idea about the kind of place you want to create
- You know around which theme you want to gather with others (food, living, co-working, or meeting) and where you want to realize this (in the Netherlands or abroad)
- You have already started but are not making progress.
- You don’t want to do it alone
- You want to make space to actually start and take action instead of just thinking.
What we offer
- Concrete tools for building your collective, community, or place
- A groupprocess and boost to take continuous action
- Collective learning: inspiring each other
- Access to the network of the Re/generation,
full of experience and knowledge

We participated in the winter program of Re/generation. Here we found very nice like-minded people, who work in a positive way towards a more beautiful world for people and nature. The activities were accessible and fun, from an audio tour in the snow to together cooking with residual flows and eating it by a warming fire. The partners they work with are also valuable to add to your network.
